That’s right. Billion. With a B.

17 days after its release, the “Barbie” movie has raked in $1.03 billion at the box office.

It’s successful in more ways than one. In the doing, Greta Gerwig becomes the first solo female director with a billion-dollar movie.

“Barbie” ended up as the biggest box-office hit of Ms. Gerwig’s career, by a moonshot, cementing her status as one of Hollywood’s young “name” filmmakers.

No movie in Warner Brothers studio’s 100-year history has sold so many tickets so fast.

“Barbie” was No. 1 in the United States and Canada for the third weekend in a row, collecting $53 million, for a new domestic total of $459.4 million.
