Meet Local Musician, And One Of The Morning Mix’s Favorite Friends, Kayla Vega

Prior to the Taste Of Charlotte, The Morning Mix with Matt Harris & Friends sought local musicians to perform before Phillip Phillips on the main stage. An “American Idol” type contest, we asked for submissions via our website.

Our hearts were completely stolen when we received an entry of a beautiful woman with a powerful voice singing her rendition of “Rainbow” by Kasey Musgraves.

Kayla performed on stage, along with two other amazing contestants Jacob Thomsen and Sam Pomerantz.

Around the same time, The Mix Morning Show was giving away two tickets to Nickelback’s upcoming concert in September with the chance to perform as a “Rockstar for a Day” on stage with the band.

Vega was lucky caller number seven that week, won tickets and subsequently entered for that exact opportunity. (As were all tickets winners that week, we swear.) AND SHE WON.

Imagine our jubilee this morning when we opened the internet and found The Charlotte Observer profiled Vega!
