It’s a double play to Strike Out ALZ as MIX 107.9 teams up with the Charlotte Knights for a special Alzheimer’s Awareness Night game Saturday, September 9th at Truist Field in uptown Charlotte.

Each Knights game ticket purchased by 11:59 pm on September 7th through the Strike Out ALZ link (click here) contributes a $5 donation to the Western Carolina chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association.

Members of our Radio One Striders team will be outside of the ballpark before the game getting walkers registered for upcoming walks to #EndALZ in Gaston County, Charlotte and Rowan/Cabarrus Counties. There will also be chances to win prizes and including free tickets to see Nickelback at PNC Music Pavilion on September 12th.

In North Carolina alone, there are more than 180,000 people living with Alzheimer’s Disease and there are close to 369,000 people caring for them. It’s a disease that hits very close to home for many members of our radio family who’ve had to say the long goodbye to their parents or grandparents.

Fans are encouraged to wear purple, the official color of the Alzheimer’s movement, as the Knights take the field against the Durham Bulls. The first 250 fans through the gates of Truist Field will receive a Promise Garden Flower pinwheel. Gates open at 4:30 p.m. The game begins at 5:35 p.m. Be sure to hang around to watch the post-game fireworks light up the sky.

Proceeds from Strike Out ALZ will support the 2023 Walk to End Alzheimer’s – Charlotte, which will take place on Saturday, October 21st to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support and research. There will also be an opportunity to get information on forming your own walk team at the  Alzheimer’s Association’s table in the Community Corner inside the ballpark.
