Back to school is closing in on us. My 11 year old daughter starts August 9th! I swear two days ago she was celebrating the last day of school.

This back to school year will be a lot different for many families. In some cases it’s been a year and a half, or more, since the kid has been in school full time. 51% of parents say they don’t feel prepared for the upcoming school year. 

I have to write the obligatory, “I love my kids” before I write, “but I’m ready to get them out of the damn house!”

My 16 year old has been home for 16 months. My wife and I have sat around calculating how long it’s been since we had the house to ourselves. It’s become the new normal to have one of my daughters just “be around”. 

Parents, you may not feel prepared but I say lean into the joy of an empty house.

The good news, about the kids being home, is  75% of parents say the pandemic has made their kids more self-sufficient. Here’s how.…
