The “Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret” trailer was released and it features several parts of Charlotte.
Though the book’s mostly set in the 1960’s suburbs of New Jersey, it was mainly filmed in and around Charlotte. You may recognize downtown Monroe and Concord. The Foxcroft neighborhood was used as the primary setting. You’ll also see the red awning of Tryon House uptown.
Filmed in 2021, it features Rachel McAdams who plays Margaret’s mother and Kathy Bates as Margaret’s grandmother. Playing the titular character is Abby Ryder Fortson as the young sixth grader who is going through it.
Waiting for the movie to come out? Expect it April 28, 2023.
