The local shelter, Animal Care & Control at 8315 Byrum Drive, is undergoing renovations to bring it up to code. This puts the dogs at great risk and the over-crowding was a terrible issue before the construction began. Help us help these sweet dogs and cats (and pigs, guinea pigs, gerbils and rabbits).
Meet our Mix 107.9 Furry Friends of the week
Lucas (A1212856) 50 lb pittie mix sweet boy with awesome house manners. He really needs to be the only dog.
He is super stressed in kennel environment-pacing nonstop, so much that his paw pads are bleeding. Once taken out, he is super chill, falls asleep while next to his human. Housebroken, respectful of the house. Loves to sleep on the bed with you, but not against you.
Loves treats, will sit on command, takes treats gently when verbally told to. Lucas loves people and warm beds! He is very smart and, on his way to learning a few neat tricks in German. He has a prey drive and needs a home with NO other pets. Housebroken and calm. Very food motivated- he loves to please you and picks up commands quickly.
He is a wonderful dog who needs an owner who has patience and time to make him feel safe! Lucas is a GEM!
Chuck a.k.a Chuckles (A1207702)
Chuck is a sweet, sweet boy who is misunderstood because of him being a ‘pit bull’.
Chuck is a loving, tolerant dog who is looking for his best friend!
He does well with other dogs, cats and kids.
He is a big scaredy-cat- seems to have been sheltered. He loves being outside but foreign noises scare him. He needs a patient owner who is willing to help him explore the big wide world slowly.
