College football is afoot and ESPN’s premier college football pregame show, College GameDay, is constructing a temporary set in the heart of Uptown!

As of 5am this morning, workers clad in orange Home Depot hardhats (I might be exaggerating) were putting up the set that former Ohio State Quarterback Kirk Herbstreit, ex-Michigan player and former Redskin (Commander, whatever) Desmond Howard and the other handful of hosts will broadcast from starting at 9am Saturday.

Liz may have used the “comin’ to your ciittaayyy” reference in the headline, but as Drew told you there’s q new song debuting this weekend as the the College GameDay intro.

Part of that new theme song collab? It’s Darius Rucker! Who is incidentally singing the National Anthem prior to the Duke’s Mayo Classic with the Tarheels playing the Gamecocks.

Better than that, Mix 107.9 is giving away the Mix-perience to be a VIP at the GameDay broadcast on Saturday morning at Romare Bearden Park.

Listen to The Morning Mix with Matt Harris & Friends between 7am & 730 on Friday, September 1st for your chance to score tickets to the traveling show and it’s broadcast here.

Liz wrote up a handy and helpful guide if you want to commit to waking up early and attending the whole event. (It’s a spectacle and is incredible to be a part of.) Click here.

Also here’s info from ESPN with more specifics: Follow this link.

Lastly, this is all a buildup to the Dukes Mayo Classic at 7:30pm at Bank of America Stadium.

Expect our area to be covered in college football fans all day (and night) Saturday. Hope to see you there!
