An ‘alarming’ study from the CDC found that childhood obesity rates in the U.S. got worse during the pandemic. The study found that obsese children gained between 12-14 pounds during the pandemic year, nearly double the typical rate.

Children at a healthy weight also tended to gain an extra two pounds on average during the pandemic. Overall, the percentage of obese children and teens increased from 19% to 22% in 2020.
